How To Prepare Your Home For Monsoon Season

Love it or hate it, monsoon season will soon be here.  If you live in the greater Phoenix area, like Gilbert, Chandler or San Tan Valley, you better stay prepared all summer long.  Monsoon season typically runs from June 15 through September 30.  We’ve gathered up some tips to help you prepare your home for monsoon season.

Inspect Your Roof

There is nothing worse than coming home to a wet spot on your ceiling or the constant sound of drip, drip, drip.  If you know what to look for, inspect your roof or have a professional inspect it.  Call around to get recommendations on good roofing companies just in case you need one.

Trim Your Trees

Protect your home by trimming your trees.  It is very common for large branches to snap off during a monsoon.  They can damage your roof and even go through your roof or exterior walls.  If you recently planted new trees, make sure they are staked down.

Inspect Your Lawn For Drainage Issues

When we get a heavy rain, does water build up in certain areas on your lawn? Protect your house from possible flooding by hiring a lawn care or landscaping company to fix any drainage issues your lawn may have.

Clean Your Garage – No Really!

Do you really want your car to sit outside during a monsoon? You’ve been lucky so far, but you’re putting your car at risk.  Clean out the clutter and avoid trees and branches from falling on your vehicles.
